Solidarity Walk at Coal Creek Disc Golf Course #
In light of the ongoing genocide in Gaza, let’s gather for a community walk and bake sale in solidarity with the Palestinian people. The walk will be roughly 30-45 minutes through the Cumberland trails, starting at the entrance of the Coal Creek Disc Golf Course. After, we will gather with a hot drink and a snack (please bring a cup if you can!).
Cash, e-transfer, and card payments will be accepted with all funds raised going as direct aid to Palestinian families. Although an accessible trail, please wear appropriate footwear. All humans and animals are welcome!
It’s important to note that Monday, October 13th is also Canadian thanksgiving - a time where many celebrate being with family and things they are thankful for. It also marks a time period where European settlers initiated actions that led to significant disruptions to Indigenous lifestyles, territories, and cultures.
“Colonization brought about profound upheaval: loss of land, spread of diseases, assimilative policies, and altered social dynamics. The introduction of foreign crops and methods changed traditional Indigenous agricultural practices.”
While we fight for the rights and freedoms of Palestinians, we also acknowledge the ongoing injustices and abuses of the indigenous people of Turtle Island. We fight for liberation and freedom of all people.
None of us are free until we are all free.
For those who can not attend but still want to donate, please reach out!
