On Tuesday, July 1st, we gathered in Kāómoks for a day of art as resistance and collective decolonization. July 1st marked a day of violence against Indigenous peoples of Turtle Islandānot celebration, but reflection, solidarity, and defiance. Indigenous communities have endured centuries of colonial violence, just as Palestinians have since 1948.
Participants created art (Gaza birds, banners, collages, paintings, and more), shared music, and built community toward a decolonized future. This kid-friendly event provided snacks, drinks, and creative stations. Donations supported direct aid for families in Gaza and Helping Our Northern Neighbours (HONN), supplying necessities to Northern Indigenous communities.
While standing against global injustices, we also confronted those at home. LAND BACK FROM TURTLE ISLAND TO PALESTINEācolonization is a crime.
